General Information

Up one level

The Rostrum Voice of Youth competition within the State is Organised by the State Convenor. To assist in the organisation of the competition, NSW has been divided into a number of regions; within each region, the competition is managed by one or more people as listed on the Regional Contacts page.  For school and competitor enquiries please email nswvoy@rostrum.com.au .

Participants progress through a series of Area heats and Regional finals to the NSW State final, the winner representing NSW in the National final.

There are two age-defined divisions - Junior and Senior - for those under 15 and those under 18 respectively at 1st January in the competition year.

The rules of the competition and the adjudication guidelines are contained in the Entry Pack, which can be downloaded from the Entry Details page.

Each of the Junior and Senior finalists in the State and National championships will be flown to the competition city to participate and will enjoy an expenses paid weekend.

The winner and runner up in both the Junior and Senior age divisions of the State final receive cash prizes, as well as the personal trophies awarded to all finalists.

The State winners receive $200.00 cash and the runners up in each age division receive $100.00. The school of each of the winners retains a perpetual trophy to hold for twelve months.

At the National level, the winners and runners-up receive cash prizes and personal trophies.

Certificates of Participation are presented to every competitor at each level of the Rostrum Voice of Youth competition.

The co-operation of secondary schools is vital to the success of this competition. Each secondary school appoints a teacher as a school co-ordinator who receives all necessary correspondence from the Rostrum Voice of Youth Regional Co-ordinator.
